Abstract

A Unified Operational Assurance Model is evolving to address the complexities of large-scale digital infrastructure consisting of networks, systems, platforms, and services deployed on multi-cloud environments across hybrid control and operational domains. It encompasses service observability, resilience, security, and risk management for highly confidential or classified services requiring service-level agreement assurances of zero business impact due to acute operational failures and adversarial incidents. The business objectives include reduced management effort and cost; appropriate use of advanced technology for operational resiliency; threat detection and attack-hardened technology; progressive teleporting of threat vulnerability; reliable contingency operation at a fraction of the normal cost; support for secure operation from untrusted locations or during insider threat; and timely disaster recovery to a backup site. The stakeholder community consists of business strategy decision-makers, business operational failure risk owners, and operational experts in resilience engineering, security, and risk management.
